HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Today is the birthday of my best friend and the greatest husband in the world!
He has been a wonderful spiritual leader, he has had more of an impact on my
life than I could ever express. I am not sure where I would be today without him.
I love him with all my heart and am so thankful for him.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HONEY!

Emily Earns Her First Belt

Emily earned her first belt in karate. She received
an adult white belt at class last night. She's only been in a few classes
but I can tell you...she DID really earn them. The exercise
she is getting is great. I am excited that she is enjoying it
so far. And because she is in the adult class, much
of what she is learning is self defense-which is invaluable
to a young lady in the days we live in.

Here she is...tired and sweaty...just after we got
home last night. But wearing a happy smile
having accomplished her first milestone!
Congratulations, Emily!

It's been almost SIX weeks since my last post. I haven't been very
good at updating lately (or ever?) Oh well...

We've been busy --AS ALWAYS--. Getting the garden stuff wrapped up. We ended up
having a pretty good harvest, for which we are very thankful. What with grocery prices
going up so much, it will be very helpful. We've always (ever since we
have been married) shopped at Save-A-Lot (because we have pretty much always been on
a tight budget) But, even with shopping there, I am not getting near as much for my money.
However, the Lord is good, and He meets our needs more than sufficiently. I am NOT
complaining, just explaining... But, it makes our garden stuff all that much more a blessing!

Emily and I have gotten back into the school groove. I was determined this year that we were
not going to get started so late. (hate that getting out in June stuff) Next week will be our 5th week. She is doing very well. She is an excellent student--for which I am ever so grateful. She is a great reader and she has an amazing comprehension for the things she learns. This makes our homeschool experience go very well.

She has also gotten to take back up with her violin lessons.--STILL TAKES PIANO LESSONS--(Her previous violin teacher got married and moved off--how RUDE) lol ... But, we have another teacher--sister of the previous teacher--and she is doing pretty well. Her sight-reading is better now so she seems like she is progressing a little more. Plus, she is learning to play some by ear as well. (which should make cousin Daniel happy) lol. We have also enrolled her in a Karate class this year. She can take the classes two nights a week and she is getting LOTS of exercise. She seems to be enjoying it so far. She has also been learning some sewing, thanks to a dear sweet lady in our church who has so kindly offered to teach her. So, every other week or so, we take about half a day for that. She is learning all kinds of new things. And, hopefully, we will be able to take up the ice skating
lessons again sometime in the near future. We'll see.

Our church is doing well. We're working on expanding our nursery area...dividing into toddlers
and babies...we simply need a little more space. That is our work in progress...

We've got some upcoming stuff...
1) Youth Sunday in a couple of weeks
2) Our church is hosting a mission conference for one of our missionaries in October
3) A hike (also in October) for any of our church family who want to go (approx. 9 miles round trip)
4) A revival meeting in November with Bro. Andy Wells)
5) And, of course, there will Christmas play and cantata practices coming up VERY soon...

So, these are BUSY days...but I've heard a saying for years that is sums it up nicely,
"I'd rather wear out for the Lord than rust out for the devil"!

There you have it!

Have a great day, Ya'll!
