First a few the decorations. Our teachers do a great job of working with the theme. This year, our theme is "The Bug Zone".
We usually open up with a word from my husband and then prayer.
After that, we usually have a visit from a silly character
who needs to learn some lessons during the week. This
week we were joined by "Bee" as she is known by her friends.
(Actually, the skit was written for "Buzz" but Emily
thought that a little too boyish) ;)
So, here is a link to the video of her and Bro. Jonathan.
After the skit, we had music time. The students learn some
very cute little songs. They usually remember them for a long time after VBS
We were so happy to have Mrs. Kristan to help with the music this year.
Bro. Ryan always does a fabulous job with the direction of the songs.
The kids have fun learning new songs and learning to
do the motions that go along with them.
Here are the words of the main theme song.
Next, I went to the individual classrooms to get a group
picture with them.
Mrs. Michelle and Mrs. Carla's 4 & 5 year old class
Mrs. Tonia and Mrs. Helen's 6,7, & 8 year old class
(with their helpers-- Westley and Sherry)
Mrs. Peggy and Mrs. Kristan's 9-11 year old girl class
Bro. Randal and Bro. Wendy's 9-11 year old boys class
Mrs. Teresa's 12 & up girls
Bro. Jonathan and Bro. Ryan's 12 & up boys
They ended up having to move to a corner in the fellowship hall because
of noise and through-traffic where they were at first.
And, of course, there are always the hardworking ladies who
prepare the snacks.
Craft time is always a favorite among the children.
This year, it was decided to have a snack time for ALL the children at once
at the end of evening. It seemed to work out pretty well.
And, at the end, there were prizes! One name was drawn from each class
and they could pick a prize from the prize table.
Here are a couple of lucky winners.
And the finale of the evening... the children get to find
out the winner of the contest between boys and girls for the offering.
(This year, the offering is to go the Wings Bearing Precious Seed for to
help send a container of Bibles to another country)
We always have a contest between boys and girls...just to make it interesting.
Drum roll please.......and the GIRLS have it! But, the
boys will have four more nights to catch up! :)
And last but not least, our sincere thanks must be given
for Mrs. Amy. She is our VBS director and she puts
many, many hours into getting it all planned and organized.
She does a great job.
