Father's Day Tribute

Today, I want to take a minute to publicly
thank my Daddy for being the greatest
dad in the world. He taught us from our
earliest days to love the Lord with all our
hearts and that serving Him was the best
and most important thing that we could do.
He taught us by example. I can never remember
getting up on a Sunday morning and wondering if
we were going to church. WE WERE!!
I am grateful that I was raised in a christian
home~not just in word~but TRULY a christian
home. So, thank you, DADDY and MOMMA for
the christian heritage you raised us with.
Mom and Dad both have had much
sickness this year, and faced some difficult
things, but through it all, their testimony
is the same~to trust and honor the Lord with
their lives.
I love you both very much!

And of course, I want to thank the Lord
for my wonderful husband. The years that
we have been together have been
so sweet. We have faced lots of different
kinds of challenges. Lean years, leaner years,
and some years that were not as lean.
We went through infertility
for almost fourteen years
~and in those years, we almost despaired
of the Lord ever
granting our greatest desire-to be
parents~
And in the years since the Lord gave us
Emily, he has proved over and over again
what a wonderful dad he is. He has been
the greatest husband and daddy that
a wife and daughter could ever hope
for. Emily and I love
you with all our hearts honey!

So, to these two dear men in my life, I say...
"I love you both with all my heart!!!"
Happy Father's Day!

Soul Survivors on Danger Island

~First night of VBS~
Theme:
Soul Survivors on Danger Island

My husband welcoming the children to our VBS

Bro. Ryan leading some very fun songs

Seth Francis and Emily in a skit
where they portray a brother and a sister
who have gotten stranded on Danger Island.
Each night they will face new challenges and
gain courage and strength to be victorious over them.

We had a pretty good turn out. About an hour or so before
we were to start, we had a storm and the power went off.
It didn't come on again until about 15 before we started.
Hopefully, we will gain a few more as the week progresses.
We love VBS and count it a wonderful privilege to
be able to share the gospel with the children
of our community.

Homemade Laundry Detergent

Being frugal is something that I have always had to be.
Early in our marriage, my husband felt led by the Lord
that he wanted me to be a stay-at-home wife~even
many, many years before we were blessed with Emily.
This being said, I have always tried to find ways to
save money. A couple of years ago, I began researching
via the internet a way to make a more affordable
laundry detergent. I have been making homemade
laundry detergent ever since. ( I do still buy
inexpensive liquids for doing my husbands dress
shirts) Anyway, here is the recipe for my
detergent. You can use this detergent for
LITERALLY pennies per load!
1 cup Borax
1 cup Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda ( NOT baking soda )
1 bar Fels Naptha laundry soap- grated
This batch will last me about 3 weeks!
I find these ingredents at Kroger ( and that is only place )
Your initial expense will be less than ten dollars.
When you do laundry, use 1 tablespoon of detergent
when you start the water. Wait a couple minutes before
adding clothes. It does a great job. I have using
this recipe for a couple of years as well as a couple
of ladies in my church. We are very satisfied with
the results. One lady even makes a batch big
enough that she only has to make it a couple of times
each year!

I apologize for the length of time away from blogging.
We just returned from a mission trip to Colorado
where we helped a church planter distribute literature
announcing the start of a new independent baptist church.
I will soon be sharing pictures from that trip!

Our VBS begins tonight.

And of course, last but not least, work continues
on our "new-to-us" house. Need
to get some new pics of our progress
there as well.
Chat with you again soon!!!
