Finished Object Friday

I have never tried this but I have wanted to, so here
goes a try. I hope it works.

This is a completed project that I did for a lady in our
town. She needed a special gift for a lady in one of her
clubs whose son recently passed away. She brought
the beautiful vase to me and requested that I make
a candle for her. ( She has previously bought one of
my candles) I have never made one with a container
this large, but I told her that I would make at no charge
to her since it was to be a memorial gift. The lighting
in the picture is not great but the candle did turn
out lovely. I made it in a neutral color and used a
vanilla scent that will hopefully compliment any
color scheme.

Now go over to for
other great finished projects.

25 Random Things About Me

I was tagged on Facebook. It sounded fun so I tried it. Wow!
It was sure hard to think of that many things about me. I
hope it doesn't bore you too much!

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
(To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish.)

Just a Note

I haven't posted in a few days. It seems like we have been
so swamped. We had a crazy week, it was hard to just get
the homeschooling done. (We did, just around other stuff!)
Anyway, I DID lose one more pound, for a total of 5.
I have now been to 2 of my Elementary Algebra classes.
The first class we didn't really do anything. He gave us
our syllabus, and went over what all we would be doing.
Yesterday, we went over alot of review material, and
then he gave us homework. Now, I know this stuff is
REVIEW, but after all, I have been out of school 25
years, and I had algebra as a freshman, so it has been
29 years since I have seen this stuff. I'm going to have
to work very hard to just remember what I have
forgotten. Thank goodness I have a sweet husband
who is GREAT in math and can help me. I worked on
homework last night and had to keep bugging him.
He was able to help alot. ( I am not sure what I would
do if I didn't have him here ) I just hope I haven't
bitten off more than I can chew. Maybe I should have
started with something easier than math. Sheesh!!!!
Please pray for me, that I will be able to grasp the
material, as this is something that I really want to do.

Another Loss

Yeah! I did what you are NOT supposed to do and
I weighed during the week. I was SOOOO glad that
I did because I took off another two pounds for a total
of 4 pounds! ( I remember doing that before, sometimes
you will gain one or two, just before losing a couple )
It's weird, but pretty consistent. Anyway, just wanted
to share.

A "Snowy" Day in East Tennessee

Now this may not seem like much of a snow,
but we don't get much snow these days. Emily has
been waiting and waiting for a snowy day. As soon as
she got up this morning, she wanted to go out
and play in it. Since we don't usually get much, we
let her go out. She had so much fun, even though
there was hardly any snow. The first thing she did was make a "Snow Angel" on our deck
Peeping in the window at her Mom
who hadn't ventured out yet...brrr....
Making a snow ball

A Happy Girl Playing in the Snow

Doesn't she look happy?
(Actually, Mom drives her crazy with
saying "Smile for the camera")

Trying out the sled
(It didn't work too well-
just not enough snow)

Jumping on a "snowy" trampoline
She thought this was "extra-cool"

Daddy tries to help with the sledding
by giving Em a push!

Walking back up the hill is the
hard part!
(Our hill is not too big, luckily)

Emily tries to give Lucky a ride on the
sled, but he wasn't going for it!
What a fun day! I even gave her the day off for snow!
Now I know, technically, there is no need for
that if you homeschool, but hey, every kid
needs to have a day off for snow sometime.
(Atleast that is what I told myself this
morning, after we got such a late start)
It was a nice break for her, that is
for sure!

Weigh In~Week Two =( you can guess by the sad face, week
two has not been a good weight loss week for
me. I didn't lose any pounds this week, possibly
even a gain of one. BUT, one thing I remember
about when I went to the meetings, is that you
can gain one or two and then in the next couple
of days lose them plus one or two more. So, I
am not TOO discouraged. A loss would be
better. I thought about not posting this time,
but since I am doing it for the accountability,
I went ahead. I realize that since I am now
"over 40", the weight loss may not come as
fast as it has in the past. Well, I just plan to
keep on trying. Eventually, I'll see the weight
come off, if I don't get discouraged and give up.

Meeting A New Friend

Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting a new friend. Alicia and I
have been reading each others blogs for a few months and
have been looking forward to meeting in person. She has
family that lives in our area, so a visit to her family allowed
us to finally meet. She is pastor's wife to Sis. Peggy's daughter, Joy,
so they had already met a few times. The three of us met at Cracker
Barrell and had a very nice time. I just LOVED meeting her. She is
such a wonderful person. I feel blessed , indeed, to have met this
sweet lady. And of course, I already LOVE Sis Peggy. I am so thankful
that the Lord so graciously sent her family to our church this past

My daughter Emily and Alicia's daughter Briley.
They are both nine years old and have much
in common. We are going to allow them to
become pen pals. They seem to "hit it off"

Monday~Week One Weigh In

Well, this is my first weigh in. I know that in
order to be successful in my diet, I have to
be accountable to weigh in. I DID lose, a
whopping 2 lbs. ( Not as much as I normally
lose my first week) I admit that I wasn't
quite as dutiful about my points this past
weekend. But a LOSS is a LOSS, thus begins
my 30 lb. journey. Only 28 more to go.........

Missions Day 2009

Today was Missions Day at our church. This is the day
when we consider our missions-giving for the coming year.
Our church loves missions, and gives from the heart, especially
considering that we are just a small church. We had a
wonderful day, with very moving messages in both services. Bro. Jeremy and Mrs. Rebekah Hall
Missionaries to Peru
This young couple are at 90% support
and are leaving for Peru next
month. I am so glad
that our church was able to take
them on for support. What a very
nice young couple with a heart
for the Lord. I know the Lord is
going to be able to use them greatly.

Bro. David and Mrs. Michelle Lewis
Missionaries to Romania
This family has become very
dear to our church. They have
been a tremendous blessing.
They have been living in our area while
on deputation and we are so
glad they come to our services
whenever they can. They are
at 72% in their support and
hope to be in Romania by
the end of the year.

These young ladies are very special to our
family. We had begun praying for a
special friend for Emily (as there
were no children her age at our
church) The Lord graciously
answered our prayers through
this missionary family. Our daughter
loves their daughters, Sarah and Hannah.
She will miss them when they leave for
Romania, but hopefully they have
built a lasting friendship that
will be continued "across the miles".

Prophet Chamber Pictures

Okay, here are the pictures I have been promising of the
prophet's chamber. I still have a few more things to do. I need
to get new rugs for the bathroom and some pictures for the walls.
But it is atleast ready for the weekend when we have some
missionaries coming for our Missions Day. I hope that these
rooms will continue to be a blessing for many, many more years. The new chaise lounge
A double recliner

The new bedding

This beautiful table was given to
our church by a church that
closed it's doors. It was hand-made.
I am afraid the picture doesn't
do it justice. We are ever so thankful
that it can still be used for the
Lord's glory as it serves
as a desk for men of God to study.

We are also very thankful to Bro. Keith Byrge
who was able to get the beautiful furniture
where he works. May the Lord bless
you and He knows what part you
played in our having it!

A Busy Day

What a busy day! First off, my Buick Rendezvous
needed new brakes so my husband and I went to
have them installed. When he got out of his car, I
rolled my window down to tell him something, and
then when I tried to roll it up, it made a weird sound,
then just fell all the way down into the door and would
not go back up. And of course, it just happened to be
POURING the rain. After getting the brakes on, I
then took it to a local body shop where they are
repairing the window regulator. After we got back
in, I packed up all of Emily's school work, and we
went down to the church. She did her work there
while my husband and I worked on getting the
Prophet's chamber back in order. I got the new bedding
on, new blinds installed, new valances hung, new shower
curtains and valances in the bath. In all the confusion
of the morning, I forgot to take my camera to the church
but I will try and get those pictures on here in a day or
two. It really does look great. I am very pleased. And
it is finished just in time. We are having our annual
Missions Day this Sunday. This is the time each
year when we consider and pray about our Faith
Promise Missions. I am looking forward to it. I just
love missionaries, and it is always such a blessing to
hear what the Lord is doing in other parts of the
world, and knowing that through missions, we can
all be a part of it. We have a couple of different
missionaries coming to be a part of our services.

Checking In

Just a short post this morning to check in.
First, Happy (?) Birthday to my sister, Holly.
I hope you have a great day, Sis!
Secondly, we are off to a slow start getting
back to homeschooling. Emily is alittle draggy
and I have to say that I can't blame her. I think
we are all feeling it somewhat. Hopefully,
tomorrow will be better.
Thirdly, I am back on my Weight Watchers
as of today. No, I am not going to the meetings,
just counting my points. I never do as well when
I don't attend the meetings, but now is not a
good time for the extra expense. So, I am posting
on my blog so I will be accountable to try harder.
Lastly, I went and did an application for Roane
State this morning. I had planned a couple of
years ago to go back to school, but then we
began homeschooling and my plans went on
the back burner. Well, we now have a campus
here in our town, so I decided to just take one
class each semester ( so as not to take on too
much) It's alittle late for registration but I hope
to get it all worked out. That's all for now.

Happy New Year!

Well, it is so hard to believe that 2008 is gone
and 2009 is here. When I was a kid, it seemed
that a year was such a long time. Now, it seems
like we barely get into a year and then it's over.
Time surely flies.

I am thankful for the good year the Lord blessed
us with. He has been sooo good to our family. We
have been blessed with good health, a great church
to minister to and be a part of, a nice home, plenty
to eat, and many, many more blessings than could
named on a single post. I didn't want this day to
pass without sharing how much I love the Lord and
am thankful for all He does. I want to begin a new
year giving thanks, being ever mindful that this
could be the year that my precious Savior returns.
I long for Him to come today. May I pray more
fervently for those not prepared so they will be ready
when He does return. May I live everyday myself,
waiting, longing, looking, hoping....what a wonderful
blessed hope for the believer, knowing our Lord may
return in 2009! May I read my Bible more, pray more,
witness more, give out more gospel tracts, sharing
more with others what this life is really about.
I'm not at all sure what the year 2009 will bring
about in this country. There will definitely be some
"changes". As we face the changes, may we purpose
to live for Him and honor Him in all that we do.
I hope you and your family have a
