Thanksgiving with Family

I was thankful to be able to spend Thanksgiving at my parents
house. This was the first time in many years that we
all were together for Thanksgiving. We do usually
get to spend christmas together, but not Thanksgiving
so this was an extra special blessing. We have
Momma and Daddy, who are sitting down
along with the some of the grandkids,
and daughters and sons-in-law in back. Steven is
a grandkid too, but he is an adult now so we
"let him stand with the grown ups" ;)
We had a very nice day, and are so thankful
for family. We may not all get to be together
the same way again next year, so for this
year, we are grateful. Truly, the Lord has
been so good!! May I never fail to give HIM
praise for His Goodness to my family!

A Season of Thanks

My husband preached a wonderful message today about Thanksgiving.
in 1 Chronicles 16: 1-8. In the chapters leading up to chapter 16, David
decides to a right thing, but he does it in the wrong way. The ark of the
covenant had been in Kirjath-jearim during all the days of Saul. David
consults with captains, leaders, and all the brethren, but he fails to pray.
First of all, they carried the ark in a cart. Secondly, the ark was only to
be carriedby Levites and by hand. During the journey from Kirjath-jearim
to Judah, the oxen stumbled and Uzza put forth his hand to steady it.
When he touched the ark, the anger of the Lord was kindled and God
smote him. This would never have happened if David had done things
God’s way. David made a bad mistake that cost a man his life.
How many times have we attempted to do something, even good things,
but failed to pray and seek God, or have tried to do it through the arm
of the flesh instead of doing it God’s way?
When we read chapter 15, David is now doing a right thing, in the
right way. He now prays to God for direction. He realizes his mistake
in not obeying the laws concerning the ark of the covenant. This time,
God blesses their efforts, and the ark is brought in with joy and
thanksgiving. I enjoyed todays messages so much. They have
helped to get my mind and heart focused on what this holiday
is truly about. I love getting to spend time with my family ( I don’t get
to spend near as much as I’d like to), I love the wonderful meal
at my parents home, but OH, HOW THANKFUL I am for my merciful
and gracious God.

19) I am thankful that even though times in America may become hard, that we know that the Lord will take care of us

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (and Little Guys, too!)

My daughter had some friends come over today for
a while to play. They always have so much fun playing
"dress-up". The two little girls are very special because
we had been praying for Emily a friend. She has lots of
friends at church, but she didn't have any that were her
age. So, we began praying for a friend. Instead, the Lord
sent her two!! Actually, they are children of a missionary
family on deputation, who attend our church when they do
not have other meetings to attend. They are not with us all
the time, so this makes their time together all the more
special. They are a wonderful missionary family heading
for Romania. If you'd like to know more about them, feel
free to email me. Doesn't it look like they had a great time? Sarah, Emily, Hannah, and Cowboy Nathan

Homemade Candles

I have spent most of the morning making candles. I thought that I had made more

than enough to get through the holiday festivals, but last Saturday, at the

Wartburg Holiday Festival, I sold ALOT of candles. I totally depleted my

mulberry, blueberry cobbler, cappuccino, cinnamon bun, and wash day.

( These are my biggest selling scents) Anyway, I spent the morning

making some more since I will have two holiday festivals to do next week.

This is the best time of year for candle sales. I do attend some spring

festivals, but fall and christmas is by far my best season. If anyone would

be interested in purchasing candles for gift giving, etc. , just leave a comment

and I will be glad to email you the information.

Revival at FBC

We are having REVIVAL this week at FBC. Bro. Andy Wells
from Monroe, NC will be doing the preaching. He preached
for us this time last year, and we had a tremendous meeting.
We are so excited to have the Lord refresh our spirits and
do a work in hearts. Also, Bro Edward Feghaly (missionary
to the middle east) will be with us on Wednesday evening.
Our church has supported him for years, but this will be the
first time that my husband I have met him. We look forward
to meeting him very much. He and Bro. Wells will BOTH
be preaching in the Wednesday night service. We are praying
for the Lord to have HIS way in the services.

Success at Land Between the Lakes

My husband and a couple of long-time church friends
of his love to hunt together. Each year, they put in for these
hunts where names are drawn at some of the wildlife management
areas. They especially love to go to Land Between the Lakes
on the Kentucky- Tennessee line. Many hunters
put in for these hunts so they usually only get to go
about every three years or so. Emily and I are so proud of
her daddy for his successful hunt. This makes three deer
for us this year, so we have plenty of meat for the freezer.
Thank the Lord, for providing. Emily with Daddy and his 10 point buck

Daddy Gets a Deer

My husband was able to go hunting this morning and harvested a nice 9 point buck. We are so thankful, as we eat quite alot of venison. Venison is a very healthy choice for meat, if one really likes to eat red meat but worries about the high fat content. Venison is VERY LEAN, and is quite healthy. We LOVE it, and eat it very often.

A Day at the Zoo

We took Emily on a field trip to the zoo. Actually, we took her
as a reward for all A's on her report card. We usually try to do
something really fun each quarter. She is very smart, works
very hard, and we feel that she deserves a nice reward for
all that hard work. She really LOVES the zoo, and it has
been atleast three years since we have taken her, so we
decided this might be a nice time to go. It turned out to be
a GREAT time to go. This time, we got to see alot more
animals than we usually do. We usually go in the spring when
the weather is a lot warmer, and most of the animals are
sleeping. This time we got to see almost ALL of the animals,
and mostly AWAKE. We really enjoyed this trip so much.
This is a VERY FUN field trip (alittle costly, around $50,
not including food) but nice for a special treat. It is
definitely worth going if one is in driving distance.

No, this one was not in a cage at the zoo. There were
acorns everywhere, I'm not sure when I've ever seen
so many squirrels. This came really close so, I just
took his picture.
